About Daniela Dani Muñoz
Dani Muñoz is a 27 year old surfer, born and raised in the mountains of Cartago, Costa Rica. She has a degree in Tourism Management and has years of experience in the industry. She moved to Nosara when, after a visit, she fell in love with the area, the surf and the people. She is an athlete at heart, a former marathoner and high jumper, as well as an accomplished surfer.
Dani’s love of surfing came to her by accident. Sitting on the beach, waiting on a friend, she was approached by a friendly surfer who asked if she wanted to give it a try. In typical Dani fashion, she replied, “Why not?” and in t-shirt and shorts, ventured into the ocean for her first attempt on a board. She did not learn a lot that day, but she did learn that surfing was something that she wanted to make part of her life!
From then on, she began learning to surf with friends, heading out every day to face a new challenge. She continued to train until she was able to join the Safari Surf team as an intern and receive ISA instruction and certification. Through her experiences, and continuous dedication to the sport, she has become an excellent coach who is shares the joys of surfing as she teaches.
Dani is also a certified Hatha Yoga instructor which brings an added element to her instruction techniques.
About Costa Rica Women’s Program
This Womens all inclusive surf camp program is a labor of love, a passion of mine that I’ve wanted to bring to other women out there, not only to teach girls how to surf in the warm waters of Costa Rica but also, empower them to become better surfers both in and out of the water.I feel like my calling has always been to help mentor other women in some way and for me surfing is very similar to life…in the water there are ups and downs as there are in life. I feel like I not only teach women how to surf but I actually mentor to them on how to succeed; perhaps not just in the water but, outside of the water as well.
The mindset and commitment needed to paddle out into overhead surf with the fear of the unknown, lack of confidence or, whatever one might struggle with, is similar to the challenges in life like walking into their male dominated office workplace, a boardroom meeting or other demanding situations we women must face in our daily lives. My passion is to build my guests’ confidence level up bit by bit as the week moves on…pushing them outside of their comfort zones, driving them past their personal limitations…only to realize they can succeed after all. They just need the instruction, the motivation, the push, the support, the psychological breakthrough when the brain says and believes… “I can do this”. Its monumental to watch women transform while spending a week with us. It’s the most satisfying feeling in the world for me!
